Here to Help You Realise a Career

Ready to hit the ground running with your goals firmly in sight? Whether you’ve got your heart set on further study, a high-flying career on even starting your own business we’ll support you as you chase your dreams.

And if you’re not sure what you want to do yet, our experienced and friendly Careers Advisers will give you the advice and guidance you need to find your path.

Through one-to-one appointments, or drop-in sessions, you’ll get the chance to identify your natural strengths and skill sets, find out more about effective job searching, learn how to write effective CVs, sharpen up your interview skills and apply for graduate roles. We’ll also help you with personal statements and applications for postgraduate study.

As well as our Careers Advisers, you’ll have access to MyCareer, the University’s online careers platform, brought to you in partnership with Abintegro. With specialist tools like a jobs board, career planner, automated CV360 checker, Interview 360 and more, you can start preparing for your future on your own terms.

Ready to take the next step? We’ll be here to help you find work experience, paid placements or a part-time job – so you’ll graduate ready with the skills and confidence to build the future you’ve always dreamed of. The Careers Service organises employer webinars and careers fairs on each campus throughout the academic year.

Building Experience

Depending on your course, you’ll also get the opportunity to gain industry-based qualifications, work placements and internships during your degree.

If you’re studying an engineering or automotive degree, for example, you could be spending a placement year in the automotive industry with the likes of Aston Martin, Jaguar, or Rolls Royce

Studying law, policing or criminology? Our courses are developed in partnership with South Wales Police.

Interested in the academic discipline of childhood, youth and education? We’ll provide you with work placements in a range of settings during your degree.

Looking for a degree in hospitality, tourism or international hotel management? Get the experience you need with placements at Marriott Hotels.

Perhaps you want to boost your culinary skills? With International Gastronomy Management, you could do a placement with Marco Pierre White Restaurants.

And if you’re considering a future in the creative industries, we’ve got links to Tinopolis, H&M, M&S and Hallmark.

Work-based Projects

Where relevant, you’ll also participate in live, work-based projects during your degree with local companies and national organisations. Hone your real-world skills, start building a professional network and graduate ready to impress employers.
